Beachcombers Basketball
our history
Since 1967
The first team for the Dromana Beachcombers was established in 1967, the same year that the Southern Peninsula Basketball Association (SPBA) was established.
At that time basketball was still a young sport in Australia, and facilities were few and far between. First games were often played at the Red Hill Show Grounds, on a concrete court.
A group of young lads got together and formed the first team. This was not longer after followed by a ladies team, and later on, junior teams.
The club is continuously fielded teams in the Southern Peninsula Basketball Association since that time.

Our Committee
All of our committee members and age group leaders are volunteers. We do not have an office, and we are run by a great team, who juggle their club role with paid jobs, businesses and families. If you have the skills that will help our club, please let us know, as many hands make light work.
